Subject: speed of 64bit and floating point counters

I wrote a little test program to compare the speed of 64 bit int and double
counters. Assuming that the integer piplines are full, and the fp pipline is
not(probably the case for most chess programs), double counters take ~1 cycle
per increment, while 64 bit int counters take ~3 cycles per increment. This was
done with MSVC6 on a Pentium II at 450MHz.
