I am beginning to suspect that at long time controls on a PIII 1 GHz, and somewhere between 1 and 3 min. a move Gambit Tiger 2 becomes the stronger program. This is the pattern I am beginning to see, but I need more games to draw a firm conclusion. It seems that Gambit Tiger 2 gains more strength from long time controls then any other program I have seen. This may have something to do with its playing style, as its attacks seem to become more sound with increased think times. I few weeks ago I began playing matches at 40 moves in 4 hour time controls to see if the pattern I have been seeing held up under this time control. I don’t have many games as of yet as it takes 1 day to play 1 game. The results so far have been crushing for Gambit Tiger 2.It seems even stronger over the other programs at this very long time control.
