Ok, I merely loaded the position into winboard with crafty, then I did an alt-1 and typed "store 300" into the window, then turned on analysis mode. Crafty then immediately sees 1. Qh1# and sticks with it. This makes me think that crafty doesn't store all the checkmates it sees, even the really fast checkmates which could occur on move 4, move 7, etc, or am I wrong? And what about all the mates it sees during a game? I don't think crafty is storing this information. Maybe it's not possible to store information leading to an iron-clad mate in 12. But I would think a check, check, check, check, check, etc, then finally mate, this type of checkmate information could be stored perhaps?
