I do not own a commercial one because... (shhh... keep quiet and do not tell
anyone loud in this forum) because... I do not need one for now.
Crafty is more than enough for me. I do not play against computers and I do not
analyze with computers. When I play a game, I quickly analyze them for blunders
and Crafty or any strong engine is more than good to find my mistakes.
My main interest in Comp. Chess is building my own engine and that drives
me to learn more about other engines. I do not even own a database but I
_will_ certainly buy one to build opening books. So far, everything that
is free on the net has been more than enough. Chessbase light has been
ok to store my games. What I own is Bookup. I have not used it for a long
time (maybe I should upgrade, the last version I have, 1.0 was very buggy).
I bought that one some years ago because it was something useful for analysis
At that time, I played few email games and it showed to be an amazing tool.

I am brewing my own :-)

But do not worry, sooner or later I will buy one. The problems has been
that at the tournament halls I was always more tempted by books.
