  You might try to recompile xboard with --disable-sigint configure option and
see if it helps. By default xboard sends SIGINT to engine with every move and
this can cause problems. I had this problem when I was using windows engine with
wine, when wine was killed by SIGINT sent by xboard. Maybe xboard is killing
program it uses to connect to remote host with this interrupt signal?
