Hi Thorsten: I have an idea why you -by the way my candidate to be one of the moderators- see with contempt or dislike Fritz 5. You have told to all us that a friend, a very strong chess player, trash Fritz all the time before your eyes. Well, maybe that is the core of your biased perception, at least biased from the biased aristotelic perceoption of many of us here. I have seen and replayed many GM games in my life, not to mention chess computers games, and I have NEVER seen a pretty lost position. Beauty is something that maybe the winner can get in his maneuvers, but never the loser. You lose because your position is in bad state, cramped or whatever and under pressure deteriorates even more and any shadow of harmony it had soon disappear. So, if a guy manages to trash all the time Fritz and you are there to see that, well, that means that all the time you see Fritz in ugly and of course losing positions. That sad pìcture surely produces something in the mind of the observer, no way. I love CSTAL, you know it, but a fraction of my enthusiasm disappeared after Chilean IM Rodrigo Vásquez trashed him with great easy. Then CSTAL seemed to me no more interesting and daring, but stupid and clumsy. Well, after that I managed to lose a lot of games to CSTAL, so I am now looking at it as a marvel again. Defeat is ugly, as I know very well each time I lose a hard hand of poker. Luckily, rarely. Fernando
