Despite its early publication, I don't think 'STL for C++ Programmers' is outdated at all. I cannot possibly say it's the best choice, since I have not read all other books on STL. The only thing I can say that I sometimes use it myself when I am programming. As for my chess program Queen, I do not use any STL facilities in it anymore (although I did in older versions).
