hi - i would like to discuss the games that have been played from
29.9-03.10 here in berlin.

the machines were at least 1200 Mhz Athlons, most programs had
1400 Mhz, and Patzer even had - as a dual program - 2x1200 Mhz Athlons.

the time control in berlin was 40/90, rest in 30'. Long enough to get a good
impression and to observe the games.

the first game i want to discuss is the game zarkov4.5T vs. Gambit-Tiger14.6.

I was operating Zarkov4.5T. Since i know Gambit-Tiger and Zarkov very good,
i was shocked when Zarkov played 18.Nxe6?

The reason is very obvious from the point of view of a human beeing:

white is underdeveloped on the king-side and the knight on d4 is on of the
only pieces that could help white. but the exchange on e6 is not only
deleting a defender, it also opens the f-line.

within nearly a move, black gets advantage and wins this game.

i am pretty much confident with the way gambit-tiger reacted.

it instantly saw that black gets advantage now.

i do NOT think that zarkov is a weak program. in opposite,
zarkov 4.5 T played a very good tournament with amazing games. but in THIS
game, it made a mistake. maybe the point was to deep.

but i know that e.g. gambit-tiger14.6 itself would change from 18.Nxe6 into
the much better 18.Ne2 {+0,18}.

zarkov4.5T analysis:
