But I doubt it. It just occurred to me that I don't know what 2600 means on chess.net. Maybe the talent pool is low. It could be that a TSCP level program (which could be written in 4 weeks) might be ranked at 2600 on some playing area, depending upon the competition. When I hear 2600, I assume powerful competition like on ICC, FICS, or SSDF testing -- things of that nature. If the average competition is a stiff, then really high numbers are (of course) possible. It is also possible that a formula is applied that generates very high ratings. (E.g. a computer that plays only lightning and only against human opponents).
