All of the latest programs that I know of played other programs on the
slower hardware. Fritz 5 is not the only program that has been tested in
this way. There is nothing wrong under ratings theory in testing this
way. Since the programs running on slower hardware should have a lower
rating. Making a win less important. And draws and losses costing Fritz
5 more rating points.
Is this the best way of testing chess program? Maybe not, but since the
other programs also have been tested in this way. I don't see what your
problem is. Other then you hate fritz 5.
