I got the SPECint2000 values for IBM's Power4 without a detailed listing on how well it performed regarding the Crafty benchmark. So far, a 1.4 Athlon is still leading with 793 compared to P4/2GHz with 644. The information I got so far is from: http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/pseries/hardware/datactr/p690_specs.html However, IBM packed two CPU cores into one causing a monster with around 170 million transistors. The CPU runs at 1.3 GHz. It has a great bandwith of over 100 Gbytes/s between L2 cache and the two CPU cores. It certainly looks like a nice multi-processor for the next generation of chess computers. I looked at www.spec.org, but there was nothing reported so far. Do you have the detailed info? More about this is in Microprocessor Report, vol 13, number 13 from October 6, 1999. Gregor
