Let's start over. What game are you doing? If it's not a game where the rules would be widely understood, what are the rules? Sorry, it would take a lot of research to make an exact answer for chess, and if I did that and you only needed 1/4 of it, that would waste a lot of time. I don't mind wasting a lot of time, but it seems like it could be easily avoided. Symmetry stuff is just an optimization, by the way. It's never "necessary". bruce
