Subject: GPL'ed chess software

I am thinking of when i finish my chess program, or any other program for that
matter to have it GPL'ed. I don't really want people to rip off my ideas and put
their name as the creator, so i was wondering what measures are taken so that
the complete code isn't stolen without either my permission or without
acknowledging my software?
