Hello Leonid, Hello Paul,

Chest (& me) did not come up with as much: after 7.4 hours on a K7/600 with
350 MB hash Chest mutters "No solution in 9 moves." Here is the timing:

#  1      0.00s                 0kN           0.87          1-         0
#  2      0.00s                 0kN           1.00          1-         0
#  3      0.02s                 0kN [ 17.14]  0.94         78-         0
#  4      0.40s [ 20.00]       14kN [ 37.71]  0.98       2163-         0
#  5      4.78s [ 11.95]      176kN [ 12.98]  1.15      26250-         0
#  6     46.01s [  9.63]     1834kN [ 10.40]  1.37     251710-         0
#  7    385.66s [  8.38]    15395kN [  8.40]  1.76    2171527-        92
#  8   3094.26s [  8.02]   121911kN [  7.92]  2.20   16929195-   8186873
#  9  26545.93s [  8.58]  1016749kN [  8.34]  2.27  148520619- 13977271

As you can see, the next level would be 8.5 times as long. Someone with a
faster CPU may want to try it. Starting with mere 77 legal moves an EBF
above 8 is just a bit too much. Otherwise there were no surprises in the
full statistics... a typical "lion" (== Leonid's creature :-).

Cheers,
Heiner
