At least some versions of Scid needed this, so that Yace would work
(better/correctly? Sorry, can't remember all details). Thomas Mayer gave me the
idea. I gave some feedback to Shane, and he has changed some things. So,
probably newer versions of Scid don't need this anymore. It may depend on the
features of the Xboard protocol version 2, that the engines support.
