It seems like a big debate out there is who is faster or what to buy which really doesn't matter as most programs will beat most of the players out there on a Pentium 133. But when it comes to winning in the WMCCC or trying to crack one of the 3 Nolot's Left unsolved the question remains How fast Can you go within reason and how much would it cost? The Criteria is The System shouldn't need a Team to Operate Like a Cray, It should fit in my Appartment And Atleast 1 Chess Program should Run on it. I do know that Deep Fritz is Topped out on an 8-way P3 Xeon 900 So that's about 5.31Ghz Minimum. What about Unix/Linux Systems? There is a SMP 32-way p90 Server for 2 million but i don't think this counts as it probably needs a full time team to operate. Is Crafty the only program that would work on a Multiway System? What about using something like VMware could you use Deep Fritz then on a much faster Alpha System?
