I can't claim to be a diehard expert on CM8000, though I did (after a lot of
trouble) manage to get a copy here in Brazil. I have played around with it a
little, so I'll give you any opinions if I have any.

Default.

Yes, thought the commented games were cool, but for DB needs I use Chess
Assistant.

I used it, but not enough for the limitation to be a factor (sorry).

I couldn't.

Yes.

I mostly looked around as it really isn't designed for stronger players.

Not bad, though I'd like to test the newer engines such as Yace to see how well
they work.

I'm not much for 3-D sets, and I found them to be pretty small. The overly
decorative sets are nice to look at... for 2 minutes, but they are difficult to
play with due to delayed piece recognition.

Yes.

My loudspeakers are off for the most part, so I doubt I looked very closely at
this.

I hope you won't get annoyed, but I was pretty annoyed (5 I guess, considering
my solution) by this and felt put-off when I found myself searching for the CD
to be able to play. Obviously I didn't play often, but it was aggravating, so I
went and found a no-CD patch.

Just tinkered.

Before CM8000, my previous CM was CM3000. :-)

1024 x 768

Maybe, maybe not. The fact that they are all floating around and too often
overlap might give that impression.

Default.

Larger.
