Subject: Question About SOS for Fritz 6 GUI

My new CCC friends,

A few months ago, I got a new computer (1.0 Ghz PIII with 256mb RAM) and Fritz 6
and have been just *loved* Fritz. Then, I tried some of the other engines
packaged with Fritz and on the ChessBase site, and downloaded some free winboard
engines and now I'm HOOKED on computer chess! (Now I know why you guys enjoy it
so much.) I've been running engine-engine tournaments using the Fritz GUI with
winboard engines such as Crafty, Yace, Goliath Light, AnMon, Phalanx, Wildcat,
ZChess, and Gromit, among others. I enjoy these engines, and they have mostly
been working fine under Fritz.

However, I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to get SOS to work under Fritz 6
(as well as Francesca MAD 0.06 and a few others). I know that SOS *can* be made
to work under the Fritz 6 interface because it is one of the engines packaged by
ChessBase with the 7 "Young Talents" engines. I think ChessBase products are
*great* (and will continue buying them), but am unwilling to part with about
$60, since I already have 4 of the 7 YT engines (Goliath, AnMon, Phalanx and
Gromit). Is there anything special that I need to do to make SOS work under
Fritz 6? Can anyone help me with this?

Also, does anyone have a listing of the different playing styles or
personalities of these winboard engines? To me, that's often as important as
pure numerical ELO strength.

One more question if you would bear with me ... I have Fritz 6 and plan to
purchase Shredder 5.32 because of its good positional style and endgame. I also
want Christophe Theron's outstanding Tigers for my PC, since I *love* them on my
Palm Pilot. After I have gotten these, is it worthwhile to get Junior, Hiarcs,
or Nimzo? (Yes, I plan to stick with ChessBase products, since I like Fritz so
much and am purchasing ChessBase 8.0).

Thanks for any help you can give.
