No, anything can happen!
Some reasons might be:
* The games in CCL are played on much faster hardware. I don't know
about MChess but Shredder benefits a lot from more cpu power.
* Booklearning. Shredder2 has no learning features at all (this will
change in Shredder3!) which could be a major problem if a long match is
played on one computer against a program that knows about learning. I
don't know if this holds for the SSDF games as I haven't checked them.
* Only very few games are played. If you want to have statistically
relevant results you need much more games!
* Both programs are able to play decent chess!
