I think there is a principle involved here. And suspect that if there was an alternative to MS they would not dare do what they have done - or only do it once. Unfortunately the average customer (ie most of them) have no choice, being locked into MS products for which their operating system is needed. Market dominance to control. I have nothing against MS or their products; but having seen some of the outpourings from Redmond (against GPL etc) neither do I believe this is innocent and about fighting piracy.
