>What I see on today's statistics is: > Windows 97.0% > MacOS 1.3% > Unknown 1.0% > Linux 0.7% > WebTV 0.3% i do use computers to run my chess programs. i do a little internet, typing letters. i do not need a windows that has ONLY ONE INTEREST: to make my machine SLOWER, to increase the amount of resources the people need to buy ! the only intention is do create a reason for the people to buy a faster pc, using more ram, bigger hdd and faster cd / dvd. in the times we had atari ST or amiga or mac, there was almost no big hdd, no cd, only discs and the machines worked without crashing. my atari ran weeks, without ever been shut down. without any noise, without big booting. without installing programs and reboot. all this windows stuff is nonsense. it began with windows. the whole catastrophy. with an operating system melting programs and os together. this is completely nonsense. it would be much easier to separate programs and os. each in a directory. so that you can reinstall windows/OS whenever you want without the need to install 33 or 50 programs again. windows, this means you lose time because you wait and wait and wait until the shit has booted. and when you install any shit, you need to reboot. and when the installation fails, it can be your whole windows is broken and you need to install os + all programs again, again, again. you need a new hdd and faster cpu each 1/2 year because next windows is that slow that you are forced to upgrade. bill gates is working with the hardware producers. he has a contract with seagate, intel, maxtor and ibm to increase the hardware power needed. i will tell you something. in the first moment somebody else produces an OS that is fast, compatible with win95 and runs my chess programs, i am away. and bill gates can die. i am waiting for this day. and i will not buy new windows versions. my palm, runs in an instant. with 2 micro-cells/batteries, it needs very less ram than any windows system and it works. in beginning days of computers there were many OS. and they all were better than microsoft shit. geoworks was an example what you can do with dos. novell tried a dos. the atari had a brilliant tos. and many other efforts. microsoft was NOT better. microsoft was big shit. from the very beginning. there was this need for a hdd to work. without hdd you could not start dos. all those commands that were loaded as overlay after the shell had been loaded. and windows was a big joke. my atari worked. i used good text and DTP programs. richard langs psion chess. with marvellous graphics 3d screen. in the moment somebody creates an os that emulates win95 and dos but still is faster and smaller than windows (its not a problem to write an OS that is smaller and faster than windows) and does not need to melt programs and OS the way you get a nightmare when windows is broken, in this moment i am away. and i am sure, many many many others will follow me. and bill gates is dead. and i will wait until this happens. and then this bigger, faster, more resources nonsense is over. even now my palm is the best alternative. i don't wanna have a windows ce machines, because this is the same shit that is installed on all my pc's. the day we will get rid of this bill gates i will make a big party. the same party i made when reagan was over and kohl was over and milosevic was in den hague. we don't need bill gates big, slow and fossile operating systems. i want to play chess with my computers, and not waste my time with ONE thought how to install the machine. a real computer makes everything itself. and the user is not recognizing what is going on. he does not need to know about devices. when i drive my car, and people all over the world drive cars, they do not need to know how to install a car, how the engine works or how to upgrade. they have a key, and they press a button and the car moves. there are many different car companies. this guaranties no monopolist drives you where HE wants to drive you.
