Subject: Strange position

Author: Colin Frayn

Date: 07:46:36 10/28/01

This position just arose in a match versus Quark, after Quark's 52nd move.

[D]1r6/RB1r1pk1/3P2p1/4PbPp/5P1P/4K3/1R6/8 b - -

This is the way I see it (which is probably wrong);
Basically, the white bishop is pinned or the rooks are lost. The white rooks
are pinned to their current rank or file or the bishop is lost. Quark has very
strong, connected passed pawns, but they're completely useless. The F,G,H file
pawns are locked, and black can't be attacked there. The key to success is the
kings. Quark eventually moved his king up and won. Sadly, Beowulf didn't see
that strategy, so couldn't defend in time.

Is this position drawn with correct play?

PGN for the entire game;
