I would call it a bug in the Chessbase Winboard adapter. I have reported it several time, but I did not get any feedback. Often, it will help to get rid of the -1, to just do a move and undoing it again. >I believe that it is mate in at most 30 I am almost certain, that the mate is shorter. You have mentioned, that you don't have KPPPK. Neither do I. Even then, it would not help Yace, because it does not probe KXXXK - I think they cannot help in "real" games, and may even make things slower. But I am not sure here either. I have no means to test it. It would be less than 10 keystrokes for me to enable KXXXK probing. Unfortunately, it is not easy to make this optional. Perhaps Eugene Nalimov reads this. I think, he would have no problem to make the #define T41_INCLUDE (which can be changed at compile time) to a run time option. For me, it is not easily possible. BTW. To find a shortest mate, some normally useless TBs might also help. Something like KQQPK, KQQKP etc. But these problems are most probably in better hands with the experts, like Heiner.
