Nah.  Unix (unics as it was first called) was operational in 1969
and available to the public.  1968 was the first year.  (most good
OS books ought to have this date in the early chapters).


So 8 years.  In 1977 VMS was not viable, but I'll let that pass.  Several
guys from USM went up there to work on the thing.
