I would choose the missing one: Athlon 1GHz :)

Of P3 and Celeron, the P3 should be faster. The P4 will blow at 1GHz.

The Celeron will be _faster_ at the same clockspeed.

I would choose the 1.7GHz P3. They do not exist, so there is no way
to tell how much the difference would be.

I think (not sure) that SDRAM will be faster as it has lower latency.
Throughput is not as important for chess.

I have no idea.

Depends on the timecontrols. If you can fill those 256M, having 512M
will be an advantage (albeit a very tiny one I predict).
