The P4 apparently does not do well on Crafty or Fritz, AFAIK. The Crafty
performance is probably explained by Crafty's propensity for mispredicted
branches. Fritz, last I heard, was written in assembly. People often use tricks
when programming in x86 assembly that do not work well on RISC-ier processors
like the P4. IIRC, Fritz on the P6 was also a dog vs. the P5.

The P4 does well enough at TSCP, and while that doesn't mean much in and of
itself, I wouldn't be surprised if there were other chess programs that it
performs well on.
