The idea isn't active in the current Rebel for the reason you mention, it
blows up the tree too much. It makes the program tactical stronger but I
was unable to notice an improvement in real games.

However I haven't fully flog the subject to death by adding exception code
to the algorithm such as adding a window of say 2-3 pawns, skip captures or
checking sequences etc.
