Author: K. Burcham

Date: 17:28:50 11/03/01

crafty played into this losing position in dutch open. i ran this for an hour
with gambit tiger 2.0. gt 2.0 took 34 minutes to see 17.b4 on 1 gig. at depth
17 with eval of +1.42.

slate---if you read this will you please test this position with crafty.
also slate do you have crafty log for this game, is it ok with robert that you
e-mail me the logs for this game? i would like to analyze this further with logs
so as to see time per move and maybe depth.

rex---if you read this will you please test with gambit tiger to make sure i was
right about gambit tiger having problem seeing 17.b4.

miguel ballicora---if you read this, have you seen this position before,
following the C14: classical, steinitz variation. it seems the variation with
12...Qc5 13. Be2 a6 14. h4 b5 15. h5 etc. would have prevented this problem
with the 17.b4. with this variation score seems ok coming out of book.

here is shredder5 eval for 17.b4
shredder5 sees 17.b4 and stays with b4 for eval of +2.00

it seems 16...a5 is better move. this move leads to the position below and
prevents the pawn advancing to b4. probably not a winning line, but at least not
a losing line 16...a5 17.Re1 Bd7 etc.
shredder5 eval for this new position after 17...Bd7, below.
gambit tiger 2.0 eval at depth 18 is .84 for this new position.
