Do you recomend me to download??? strongly recommanded... It solves many bugs and afaik there were some changes to the engine-system, might be the reason why it does not work on your comp. > What do you mean with NoMMX engine?? and Standard engine? Could you please > explain me??? Shipped with Fritz 7 are 2 Fritz-Engines which both are put in the engines folder of the chessbase-directory. Ones name is "Fritz 7.eng" (430.080 Bytes) the other one calls "Fritz 7 (NoMMX).eng" (364.544 Bytes). When you start Fritz 7 GUI, it shows you only one of those engines - the one which chessbase thought its best for your comp. Under older Fritz GUIs (6,5.32) you can use both engines and so far it is unclear which one is the better one against comps, there are different results. Most call the "Fritz 7.eng" the standard-engine... simply because it is loaded on most comps. Besides, when installing Fritz 7 on an old comp without MMX, it was reported that neither of those engines is shown and you can't load any of it. But it seems that you can load the NoMMX under different GUI like Fritz 6, 5.32 - seems someone felt asleep in the endcontrol of the product... :) But I am sure there will be soon some nice bugfixes and everything is all right - we know that from Fritz 5,6 etc. - also ChessMaster is not unknown for beta-releases in the first versions... I think this is caused by time presure on the company's - maybe Eidos pushed so much pressure on ChessBase that they didn't have enough time to test everything carefully enough. Same to ChessMaster and Ubi-Soft, in my opinion, the game company's like Eidos & Ubi-Soft are much stricter with deadlines etc... (And we know this from other sectors - especially game-software is in first version VERY beta... and that seems to happen now also in the chess software when the company is related to a big game company - so far only those software packages have those big problems, Rebel, ChessAssistant and former Shredder releases under the Millenium flag were definitely more bug free - I hope in case of Shredder GUI this will stay as it is...)
