Heh Ron, I already have all of those things in. Well, except for checking the squares to promotion for attacks. That might be an idea... However, if the pawn is a long way from promotion then the board could well change a lot before it reached the 8th Rank, so I think it's better to check for potential threats, rather than existing ones.
