Hi all, The tournament is over, needless to say I am very happy with the results of Chess Tiger and Rebel. Especially Rebel showed some teeth here: Apart from the game against Tiger it beated Fritz, The King and was very unlucky not to win against Diep and Kallisto. I want to thank the organizers for a splendid, well organised and friendly tournament. Something to be proud of! Rienk, Theo and all the others I forgot: Well done! Also a big thank you to all the participants. As usual the atmosphere was great, many nice talks, jokes, laughs and last but not least, exciting games. Congrats to Gerd Isenberg for a great performance, beating The King and almost beating Fritz, finally finishing 4th is a great achievement! But also Sjeng and Spider Chess deserve compliments for their entertaining style and games. They gave Chess Tiger a hard time, and myself some near-nervouss breakdowns :-)). Johan de Koning might be disappointed by the result of The King, but such a thing can happen during such a tournament. As we say in Holland: Soms zit het mee, soms zit het tegen.... After Tiger's misfortune in Maastricht I know exactly what this means :-) I had some very interesting discussions with Bas Hamstra about anti positional play, king's attacks and lots of other stuff (like rabbits). Enjoyed that one too! Next year a faster machine, Bas!? Also thanks to good old Jan Louwman for operating Rebel. As he said - modestly, as always - it was thanks to his good operating that Rebel did so well here :-)). Diep just didn't make it this time, but Vincent's time will come. One day the best program will win a tournament :-)). I enjoyed Vincent's comments during the rounds, which always give rise to a special atmosphere. Some of them: 'What a butt move'. 'Stupid Diep blew it again'. 'These things can't play chess'. Well, the tourney is over, hope to see you again next year! Jeroen
