I suggest doing this proper. Have a call for all chess programmers
(these are the ones that have to code the damn stuff) to enter into this
discussion on the CCC. Then draw up an agenda of items to deal with and
discuss each one in depth for a week. Then vote on each item hopefully
one item per week. Tally the votes and the winning ideas make it into
the standard. Publish a final revised standard. Even though SJE invented
this stuff, the standard is now at a higher plane and is performimg more
or less the way he envisioned it. So don't think that he owns it. It
would be indeed be proper for Steven Edwards to be the Chairman of this
revision exercise though. So how about it Steven? Could you get together
with Steve Schwartz to put out a call for programmers? Perhaps Steve
Schwartz could email the programmers for formal votes the way that he
does with other matters. Surely this exercise is as or more important
than those.
