Whether you alert your opponent or not that you have moved, or whether you stop the clock if he is gone to the bathroom or something like that is entirely up to you. The question is: Do you want to win by playing better chess than your opponent, or do you want to win by exploiting the rules to the fullest extent possible? -- GCP
