I need to be more clear about the distinction I'm trying to make between position-specific and game-specific commentary. It's true that tags and other forms can be used to convey game-specific information. The problem comes in when one wants to convey information that is specific to one game and pertinent at one point in that game. Example: "That was a new move for Black" makes little sense as a positional comment attached to the position after the move, but makes perfect sense attached to the game at that point. Another way of looking at the problem is a practical one. Which comments from one game should be displayed when a user is browsing another game in a database?
