Ah, I wondered if you would read carefully enough to see that message, Steve.
Haven't seen you on icc much lately... though I am not online as much either
since I have no access at home currenty.

That's gotta change... the guys at AT&T can't give me a firm date on when cable
is ready (sometime in the next two months it sounds like). I can get DSL at
home now but because of my bad experience with it in the last place (expensive
and poor performance) I thought I'd give cable a try. If I don't get a firm
date from them soon, though, I'll probably bite the bullet and call Verizon. 3
months is a long time to have no Internet at home. I suppose I could get a
modem but is slow Internet any better than none at all? Ha, spoken like a true
bandwidth-spoiled geek.

I honestly think I got more out of these discussions than I gave... I may have
had one or two good ideas but monsoon is full of things we kicked around that
were really Steve's idea originally.

What's Chester doing on ecm 20 sec/move these days? I finally got a new machine
(actually a while back). It's a dual 1.2Ghz palamino w/ 1Gb. I have not
parallelized the search yet (though I have worked out a nice locking mechanism
for the hash table) and wanted to get a nice baseline 1proc ecm score now that I
am no longer forced to use the 450Mhz cpu. I'm at 612/879 currently (this,
also, is the Win32 port). With the 450Mhz I think i was around 535/879 (running
on FreeBSD).

Also, speaking of webpages, monsoon's is another casualty of the
lack-o-internet-connection.

Scott
