I think it is a problem with windows 95. I tested Fritz 5 under Windows
98 beta,
and in general most of the funny hashing behavior stopped. In general
Fritz gave more of a steady faster upward trend. As you add more memory
to the hash tables. So in most cases Fritz 5 was better in all positions
tested with more hash. Under win 95 Fritz seems to like certain hash
setting more then others. Even if they were  smaller by a big
percentage. So 25 megs of hash may give you a much better time in some
position then 45 megs would under win 95. This stopped under win 98. I
was also able to use more hash under win 98. I could use up to 56 megs
of hash under win 98. On a computer that had only 64 megs of memory.
Does win 98 just have a better memory manager then win 95? Im not sure.
