There is no reason to conclude a different version slightly stronger than Crafty 18.12 would be stronger than "The King". I have now played 70 games using Crafty 18.12 vs various programs. This version is now 49 ELO points below the rating of Crafty 18.10 in my database. The performance vs CM8K is it's best performance so far vs other programs. This is surely due to the small sample rate. Even 70 games is not enough to be sure but the trend is that Crafty 18.12(K7) is weaker than Crafty 18.10. I also only have 129 games of Crafty 18.10. That is why I asked for other peoples experience (if any). Jim
