Technically English and French are both first languages in Canada. Again as in your case I wouldn't attempt to write it but can understand the written word for the most part. However I stated when they can read and write English. Specifically referring to Harold Faber who don't seem to have a problem with either reading it or writing it. It just seems that it takes an hour or so per paragraph. Sarah.
