Hi Thomas,
Well actually I don't think I did them justice as I failed to mention
that with the Fritz 7 version you can play online for free.
Also I don't think it was overdoing it, Chessbase have allowed owners of
Fritz 6 to get patches which included engine updates 4 times since it's original
release, without any type of cost involved. They infact could have called any of
them Fritz 7 as there has been 2 yrs passed since Fritz 6.
Even were NO MMX to have been the last in the Fritz 6 line the fact is that in
buying Fritz 7 you still get this engine for Free. Whether they decided to call
it Fritz 7 (NO MMX) at the last minute and then forgot to change the version
number again to me is academic.
True you cannot load NO MMX in Fritz 7, it also currently cannot be used on the
Fritz 7 server. But as stated above Chessbase have in the past released patches
for gui's and it's already been posted at CSS they will release a patch for
Fritz 7.

I myself originally looked at a few test positions when I saw the file version
number last week sometime and saw little similarities with Fritz 6. Infact the
output was much closer to Fritz 7.

I agree, I think Fritz 7 is a great engine.

I naturally hope for patches to fix some of the problems. I would like to be
able to use NO MMX in Fritz 7 and on the Fritz 7 server. But as I said these are
patches I expect will be released.
