Typically this is how deep in the search you get before no TB probes are
allowed.  IE if you are doing a 20 ply search, probing at depth=30 (after
extensions) can utterly slow the search to a crawl...  so you might choose
to limit the max depth at which a probe can be done to 20.  Or 15.  It would
vary depending on the speed of your disk and the speed of your processor.

It is always possible to define this value differently in different
programs...  It _could_ be the "remaining depth".  Or it could be the
"depth from the root".
