Subject: Can programs find the losing material moves in this corr game?

Author: Uri Blass

I am interested only in the losing material moves in the main line(the analysis
inside the game is only to help programs to get the right conclusion)

I am interested to know if it can be proved be only material evaluation
after learning that Rac8 wins more than 1 pawn.
Top programs have big positional scores so I cannot know how much of the score
is positional and how much of the score is material and the result is that
I cannot find the losing material mistakes of my opponent by regular programs.

I believe that 24...Rdc8 simply wins a pawn when 24...Rac8 wins more than it but
I am not sure

Fritz said at move 24:
24...Rdc8 25.c3 Bxa3 26.Nb5 Bc5 27.Bxc5 Qxc5 28.Na3 Qe7 29.Rd6 Qh4 30.Qe3

The question is if black can improve this line
A possible try is 26...Bxb2+ but I could not prove a win for black by this line.

Here is some analysis of yace after learning the lines that are posted for many
hours(note that it did not finish depth 14 and it now searches move 29 out of 34
legal moves)

It sees 1.77 pawns for black but the problem is that I do not know how much of
this number is material and how much is positional.

(Blass, Tel-aviv 09.11.2001)

Yace learned after cxb3 axb3 that the game move kb1 is losing more than 2 pawns
and the result is the following analysis

yace also learned that 26.g5 is bad and that 26.c3 is bad so it does not want to
play them.

yace used at least some minutes for every move in the relevant lines
25.c3,25.g5 and also some minutes about the game line 25.cxb3 axb3 26.Kb1 Qb7

Yace used more time mainly in cases when it needed it to get the score that I
wanted that is more than 2 pawns advantage.

I gave up when I saw that it analyzes 26.Qf1 for a long time and does not get
the score that I hoped for and decided that 1.77 is close enough to the score
that I hoped for.
