Funny how many chess programs say on the box "The World's Strongest Chess Program" -- and yes, I have definitely seen several programs clearly state that on their software box. And here, a low 2100 ELO figure is given and lots of justification is being called for. An ELO figure is going to be relative to who/what/when/where/how it was played. Quite frankly, the bare number 2100 *should not* convey much strength information to someone who knows how the ELO system works, unless it says: ELO 2100 FIDE or ELO 2100 BCS or ELO 2100 SSDF or something like that. Otherwise, it's clearly a "did this in my basement" figure, and subject to even more than the usual sort of error bars. I do hereby state that I am quite sure that Chess Tiger Palm has an ELO of at least 2800[*] [*] When playing against the Tower Montessori preschoolers on 99th Ave. & 272nd street in Federal Way, WA. Personally, I am never going to get too excited about the numbers and claims written on the software box. As they say, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating."
