At a guess I'd say Intel have done a deal with the major
computer manufacturers, to give them the chips at a much lower
price than you or I could get one for. AMD, being a lot smaller,
can't match it.
Computer retailers talk as if they know everything, and one
of them told me the AMD chips run a lot hotter, and are less stable.
Don't know how accurate he was.
