Probably within the next month timeframe I plan to write a detailed review on ChessBase 7 and Chess Assistant 3.02 for Computer Chess Review. There is no clear recommendation what to buy right now (ChessBase 6, Chess Assistant or TASCbase). TASCbase is still a DOS program that runs in a limited screen resolution (640x480?), something which is unacceptable to me on my 21" screen which I usually use with ChessBase and CA at 1600x1200 res. ChessBase 6 is quite cheap nowadays and they got rid of the dongle, ChessAssistant still does some tasks better than even the upcoming ChessBase 7 but lacks many other features of CB. I use both programs complementary, but since you haven't made up your mind yet whether to buy a chess database at all, I would recommend you just to wait and watch the inevitable flood of reviews after the launch of CB 7 in a few weeks. To get a good grasp about what you can do with a chess database, I would take a look at the electronic T-notes by Steve Lopez at the www.chessbase.usa site. Also you can download trial versions of all 3 programs you mentioned at www.chessbase.com www.chessassistant.com www.tasc.nl Hope this helps Moritz On May 31, 1998 at 12:39:17, Eran wrote: > > >Hi, >What are the best benefits given by ChessBase, TascBase, or any other >database software?
