If it's fixed, and I read the rest of the report, it still isn't ready for mass
marketing.

That's the only reason that IBM and Co. have moved with the P-4.

Tell me Torstein, exactly how many rating points to you expect to achieve
with an AMD at 1.8Ghz over the P-4 at 2.0 Ghz? 30 pts. maybe?

Also, for what the P-4 was designed for does an excellent job, I know I've seen
a 1.4Ghz model and it's better than a P-III in most respects.

I'm not saying the P-4 is faster or as fast as AMD in chess calculations but
it's far from a "Primitive" CPU!

Next year Intel will introduce the Northwood core starting at 2.2Ghz.

The processor is still under developent and in the near future may outpace
AMD even for chess programming.

It's a brand new design, so Intel will continue to improve the processor.

It's too early to say AMD is "Superior" in all respects. People hate Intel, they
own 80% of the market!

I own an IBM, people who didn't cut it down, people who knew something about
IBM, other owners had a different story.

IBM is a well made PC period. Intel does make quality processors, and you can
take it to the bank:)
