From what I know (I just fooled around with the 2.0 demo ages ago) I
tend to agree that Tascbase probably offers good value for the money,
especially when compared to other DOS chess programs that cost the same
and offer a less complete 'all in one chess package'. The 'King' engine
alone would be a reason to buy it, and maybe even I will buy it just for
the chess engine.

I guess I'm just too much accustomed to work in the Windows environment
that I see problems with the DOS limitations that aren't as relevant for
others (who maybe don't know what they're missing from Windows ;-)).

Chess content might be another issue: There are many commercial add-ons
like opening surveys, magazine subscriptions, endgame studies etc. for
ChessBase and not quite as many for Chess Assistant. I don't know if
there are any comparable Tascbase products at all.
