I think that Ken Thompson's prediction (2018) is the best one. In my opinion
progress in computer chess is going on much slower than imagined in the past.
When trying to learn the programs to play a more human style, new and unknown
weaknesses will occur. To understand chess on a top level needs too much chess
knowledge and especially the feeling when a given position is an exception of
the general rules. And such things are most difficult to learn a chess program.
