It will happen before 2006(IMO). Computer speed will continue to double every year from what I have read, and with better chess programs even the world champ will not be able to stop the micro machines. It has been predicted micro computers will lag 10 years behind the super computer chess program’s in beating the would champion, Deep Blue beat GM Kasparov in 1997.
