  Computer chess world has a lot of free high-quality software, so a free
Microsoft program wouldn't make a big difference.
  Actually, I believe professional chess programmers have to live in a very hard
world, with such strong free engines out there. In my software-for-companies
world I haven't seen a single piece of free high-quality software. It's much
more 'easy' (well, not easy at all, but easier) than in chess software.
(  Hey Bob, don't even consider writing software for companies!! :)   )
