Yes XP is a threat because of its "open ports". To sum it up, any program under
XP can access any Winsock port, even for evil purposes. On previous versions of
Windows it was more difficult.
Microsoft did nothing else than to implement the whole BSD protocol (which was
not the case in previous versions), but by doing so created a new threat to
Internet security. For example it will be easier for hackers to launch huge DoS
(Denial of Service) attacks using the Windows XP computers of their victims
(computers infected by "bots").
